Founded in 2000, Emperor Motion Pictures (EMP) is one of Hong Kongs leading companies in the field of production, distribution and financing of feature films and television dramas, artiste management, as well as audio-visual product production and distribution.
Over the past 12 years, films financed and produced by EMP have won numerous awards and dominated the box-office. They include leading character actor Nick Cheungs unprecedented seven acting awards for €The Beast Stalker€ in 2009, followed two years later by Nicholas Tses best actor triumph at the 30th Hong Kong Film Awards for €The Stool Pigeon€.
Other notable recent feature film projects such as €Shaolin€, €The Great Magician€, €DIVA€ and €The Bullet Vanishes€ have all won public accolades, with Dante Lams action blockbuster €The Viral Factor€ becoming Hong Kongs top-grossing Chinese-language film during Lunar New Year in 2012. Even more impressively, actor-director Jiang Wens €Let The Bullets Fly€ grossed more than RMB 700 million at Chinas box-office in 2010, setting numerous records along the way.
Concurrently, EMP is dedicated to bringing top foreign-language films to the Hong Kong audience. After critical and commercial successes with Japans controversial €Confession€ and €Departures€, the latter an Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Language Film, EMP went on to score major hits in 2012 with Koreas €Silenced€ and the global Hollywood phenomena €The Hunger Games€.
In addition to actively developing and expanding its distribution activities into China to service its upcoming slate of productions, EMP has also recently branched out into artiste management. Casting its nets far and wide, EMP now represents a number of well established stars, including Simon Yam, Wai Ying-hung, Damian Lau, Michelle Yim, and Irene Wan.
Looking to the future, EMP is striving to continue its collaboration with as many A-listed talents in the industry as possible, with new projects involving the like of Jiang Wen, Ge You, Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse, Nick Cheung, Dante Lam, Daniel Wu, Anthony Wong all coming through imminently. The next 18 months will also see the release of Jackie Chans long-awaited action blockbuster €CZ12€, Feng Xiaogangs magnum opus €Back To 1942€, Lu Chuans epic €The Last Supper€, Herman Yaus €Ip Man €" Final Fight€, Harald Zwarts €Mortal Instruments: City of Bones€, and the second episode of the Hunger Game franchise, €Catching Fire€ among others.
