On Halloween night, Tiffany, a reclusive video editor and streamer, takes on a disturbing
new gig: she’s hired to edit a horror movie for a mysterious client. As she begins
working, she livestreams the process on her YouTube channel, “Scared Stiff With Tiff,”
where she regularly edits horror content for her fans.
But as she edits the footage live, a terrifying truth emerges—the scenes aren’t staged;
they’re real murders, captured in grotesque detail. The killer is no ordinary maniac. He
wields a custom-designed glove that controls multiple cameras, turning each kill into a
twisted work of art. His mask, equipped with a camera lens that can change focal
lengths, captures every moment of terror with eerie precision.
What makes Rough Cut truly unique is how the horror unfolds in real-time, with Tiffany
piecing together the nightmare right in front of the audience through her editing
program. As she edits, the boundaries between fiction and reality blur, and she realizes
she’s not just an editor—she’s the unwilling star of the killer’s final cut.
But this Halloween is more than just a night of horror for Tiffany. It marks the ten-year
anniversary of a personal tragedy she’s tried to forget. Now, the killer’s footage shocks
her by featuring her own mother, alive and in grave danger. With nothing more than her
editing program and the ghosts of the killer’s victims, Tiffany must save her mom and
stop the killer before he kills her and becomes a viral sensation.
Rough Cut has garnered significant industry buzz, placing in the top 1% on Coverfly and
earning semi-finalist spots at both the Austin Film Festival and Slamdance.
