Überblick

Sardinia, in the present day.
An old breeder manages his horse farm with his daughter. With them a trusted man and a few other helpers, insufficient by now for the double annual event: the Transumanza.
Only one road is on the horizon: sell the property and give up horse breeding, a hypothesis that finds the daughter's firm opposition. It will be the old breeder's son, who has lived in the city for some time and has never been interested in the family business, who will come up with an original solution: to propose a holiday with a Western flavour to those who think they are capable of riding horses and managing a herd; an alternative holiday to discover the wonders of the territory that can only be admired on horseback. Despite their doubts about it, father and daughter agree; the only alternative is to set fire to the property in order to pocket the insurance premium, as others have done before them, but this solution seems more difficult than organising that extravagant experience for adventure-seeking holidaymakers.
The ad is answered by a dozen or so people, heterogeneous in age, background and motivations, who, according to their ability to ride horses, will be arranged around the herd to guide its movements, carefully supervised by the breeders and their more experienced collaborators.
The transhumance will last a week, during which the holidaymakers will get to know the power of a beautiful and strong nature whose harshness has made the characters of the three family members as hard as stones, and they will experience at first hand the contrast between modernity and an ancient tradition that no longer seems to have a space, a marked path to follow like the herd of horses they must drive to their destination. The improvised cowboys will discover that the experience will turn out to be much more than a holiday, but an intimate transhumance in interpersonal relationships. Along the way they will encounter various obstacles and trials, which will highlight their character and motivations. Among them, that of the farmer's son, who does not seem to have organised the holiday because of his attachment to the family business...
Their mutual trust will falter when news of a dangerous criminal escaping from prison leads them to doubt each other: the multiple murderer may be closer than he seems.
