Paris, 1963. The youngest of a family of six, Roland is a boy like no other. According to the doctors, he’ll never walk, but his stubborn mother, Esther, simply refuses to accept this.
Through a combination of unwavering faith and exceptional denial, she is determined to defy the (apparently) insurmountable odds. Her tremendous nerve and love, her silver tongue, and her appetite for mischief and alternative medicine set the stage for Roland to embrace the wonderful life his mother imagines for him.
God couldn’t be everywhere, so he created Esther.
