On her 40th birthday, Rachel Torres's biggest concern, besides her pending mid-life crisis, is facing her fear of public speaking at her daughter’s upcoming Bat Mitzvah. Amidst family chaos and the discovery of new siblings of every ethnicity, Rachel and her mother journey to find her “real” father, leading them to a shady PI, an inept gynecologist, and an ex-con tattoo artist half-brother. Along the way, Rachel rediscovers her true identity as loving mother, an unemployed but passionate actress, and above all, her mother’s daughter.
