Jake (Douglas Smith) and his wife Elle (Isabelle Fuhrman) have been living a nightmare since the death of their son Raymond. Wrecked with guilt that Raymond’s death was Jake’s fault, Elle has never managed to forgive him. And now, in an attempt to make peace with the unimaginable, Elle and Jake gather their closest family and friends to the family cottage near a picturesque lake to celebrate her life - Elle is terminally ill. But, the retreat unravels into a waking nightmare when Elle returns from an apparent death, changed. As an insidious parasite takes hold, the group is drawn into a slow descent where the boundaries of love, guilt, and survival blur.
