When heavily pregnant Maria (Nilam Farooq) returns alone to the remote country house of her father-in-law (Justus von Dohnányi) in the evening, which she has just moved into with her fiancé Viktor (David Kross), she has no idea what is lurking there in secret: At first, it seems to be a completely normal evening, but while she is on the phone with Viktor, who is still stuck in the office, all the lights in the house suddenly go out. When she goes down to the basement to check the fuse box, she hears eerie noises. A mysterious breathing. Maria doesn't notice the ghostly shadow standing behind her in the darkness. She tries to stay calm and get to the bottom of it. In the sprawling basement, Maria discovers a secret room where she stumbles upon a terrible family secret. Panicking, she wants to drive back to town, but when she runs out of the house, her car key has disappeared. At the same moment, Maria's contractions begin. And this is only the beginning of an eerie and dramatic night in which Maria must fight for her own life and that of her child...
