The Abandoned Season 1

Sanya Malhalkar finds herself waking up from a deep coma, absolutely alone, in a completely abandoned

and quarantined foreign island (deep in the middle of the Pacific Ocean). With all remnants of civilisation

gone, she soon discovers that after falling into her coma over one year ago, her husband and new born son

were evacuated from the island as a deadly virus rapidly started to spread and wipe out the population.

The survivors on this island are split into two divisions; the Lanihasi and the Tourists. The Lanihasi is filled with the local

surviving population who blame the foreigners (aka Tourists) for bringing the “foreign virus” on to the island; they now control

the mainland with the little resources they have. On the other side, the very few surviving “Tourists” are scattered deep in the

jungles of the island, in hiding, with no foreseeable way off the island, being hunted and killed by the angry and revenge

seeking community.

Sanya in her coma state, remained unknown to either division as she was hidden and looked after by a local man named “Tiki”.

However, upon waking up she is soon discovered by the Community. Whilst unknowingly looking for help in the mainland,

she was ambushed by the community where they tried to rape and kill her. However, to her luck, Tiki manages to save Sanya

and take her back to his place, giving her a reality check on the "New Normal”. However now recognised as a traitor to his

community he is forced to push Sanya into the woods telling her to hide.

Lost, alone, scarred and confused, Sanya spends the next few days learning the way of this new world while trying to stay out

of danger. With nothing but a letter from her husband, old memories and a undying spirit, Sanya is both persistent and

armament that she must find a way off this quarantined island. With no network, no transport in or out, no substantial food or

water, she once again fights for survival with the hope to one day make it back to her family.

In this journey, she encounters and bands together with a culturally diverse range of surviving tourists who name themselves

as ‘The Abandoned’ (foreigners). They have their own stories and reasons why they must get off the island. With this common

goal to get off this island, she forges a strong bond with her fellow survivors as they search desperately for a way to get one

step closer to their goal. The series takes the audience and the group through an emotional rollercoaster ride, with ups and

downs, overcoming mental and physical obstacles, finding unexpected friendships and companionships, whilst facing

betrayal and loss. Sanya also discovers love & hope, deals with her past as she shares life -changing experiences. On this path,

Sanya’s past catches up to her as her morality and ethics are questioned and a simple girls human instinct kicks in. All while

the local Lanihasi hunt them.
