Humanity, mercy and kindness have no nationality or borders. The righteous among nations have dedicated their lives to saving children regardless of country of residence
This powerful film takes us on the heart wrenching journey of two Jewish brothers orphaned and separated during WW2. As a convoy of refugees is shot down by German fighter planes, their mother is killed and the brothers are left alone. The only thing that remains with them is a family photograph which they split in half before being ruthlessly separated. We follow the story of the elder who is saved by a courageous Belarusian peasant family. It is through the eyes and vivid memories of this brother that we experience the intensity of his story and the phone call which reunites the brothers against all odds. The fate of the younger brother remains unknown until the heart opening moment they meet again, reconnecting the two halves of a torn photograph they have both carried through life. A testament to the resilience and perseverance of the human spirit.
