Four stories, four characters, join forces in the movement “No to the Coal”, in order to tell the life of a territory, Brindisi and its industrial area, considered among the most polluted of Italy, located less than a mile from the first inhabited areas. Nevertheless, all studies on environmental pollution of Brindisi’s area are neglected or rejected as insufficient to establish a causal link between the real industrial production and cancer deaths. Despite the European Environment Agency data and scientific studies on neonatal cardiac malformations (68 more than the European average), the government ignores the emergency. Instead people are ready to make a change. This documentary analyzes and highlights a complex society, which exploits the natural resources of the earth but suffers from hectic industrial development. It is a reflection on a world where economic progress ignores the needs and health of the least protected and the warning signs of a future environmental chaos.
